Senses, Sensuality And The Ontological Question

The religious and philosophical enquiries into the theme ‘sense and sensuality’, irrespective of whether oriental or occidental, have assumed an ontical poise and the ontological approach to the same has largely been ignored or suppressed. However, existential phenomenology of the West and the Tantric tradition of the East have been an exception to this. Both have categorically assumed an ontological approach towards the theme ‘sense and sensuality’, and interestingly they are consistent with each other as theory and practice in that respect. Focusing on the theme, capitalizing on the said convergence in approach, an attempt is made, in the present paper, at using existential phenomenology as a hermeneutical tool for Tantric practices.
