Truth and Reality: on the Boundary Between the Worlds

2019 / Volume 5 / Issue 2

The articles published in the current issue of the Manas journal are extremely diverse in terms of subject matter: the ancient Vedic ritual sarvasvarastoma, the early Vedānta’s Upaniṣadic exegesis, the jātakas of the widely known Buddhist work Mahāvastu, the religious beliefs and cultic practices related to the deities lha of the Buddhist Dards in Ladakh, the function of the political metaphors in contemporary Persian. As it is obvious, the five articles can hardly be combined under a common thematic denominator. Yet there is something that they look like – each of them, though in a radically different way, discusses the topic of the multiple dimensions of the reality, of the truth about it and of the varied types of discourses through which we try to realize it.
